So is making a positive impact.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s had the opportunity to display both as an Auburn Engineering faculty member for 28 years, and he\u2019s eager to show them again as the college\u2019s new associate dean for undergraduate studies and program assessment<\/a>.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d never ask someone to do something I haven\u2019t already been doing or wouldn\u2019t do myself. I\u2019m happy to jump right in and help,\u201d said Hendrix, who previously served as associate department chair and director of undergraduate programs in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering until assuming the new role on Aug. 1. \u201cAs a leader, it\u2019s important to ask questions, such as \u2018What roadblocks are in your way to doing this well and how can I help?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Hendrix pivoted from opportunities in industry to pursue a career in higher education because he simply \u201cloved to learn.\u201d \u201cHigher education provided that path,\u201d he said. \u201cAlong the way, I realized you really learn something when you teach somebody else.<\/p>\n
\u201cAuburn Engineering has so much going for it, but the crown jewel of the college is our students. We can\u2019t lose sight of that. I\u2019m excited about providing our students more opportunities \u2014 academically or facilities or whatever,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
