Aidan Bosman has always been drawn to water \u2014 from growing up in drought-prone Colorado to pursuing civil engineering research that addresses pressing environmental challenges.<\/p>\n

Now a graduate research assistant at Auburn University\u2019s Stormwater Research Facility, he is applying that interest to projects designed to improve water quality and strengthen communities.<\/p>\n

After earning his bachelor\u2019s degree at Iowa State University, Bosman was introduced to Auburn through a personal connection. Recruited by Michael Perez, Brasfield & Gorrie Associate Professor and director of the Stormwater Research Facility, he saw an opportunity to turn his interests into hands-on research.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always loved figuring things out and solving problems,\u201d he said. \u201cStormwater research at Auburn was a perfect fit.\u201d<\/p>\n

That work is already making an impact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through his involvement in the city of Auburn’s Hickory Dickory Park restoration project, Bosman has helped restore creek banks and implement stormwater control measures such as bioretention cells and swales \u2014 all aimed at reducing erosion and improving water quality at the popular park.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGetting hands-on experience with a project like this gives you a deeper understanding of what it means to do work with real-life impact,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
