{"id":1680,"date":"2012-11-06T14:08:08","date_gmt":"2012-11-06T14:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/?p=1680"},"modified":"2012-11-27T16:23:11","modified_gmt":"2012-11-27T16:23:11","slug":"innovation-at-its-finest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/?p=1680","title":{"rendered":"Innovation at it&#8217;s finest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four Auburn faculty members have been awarded grants totaling more than $600,000 through the <a href=\"http:\/\/wireeagle.auburn.edu\/news\/4639\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Alabama Innovation Fund<\/strong><\/a> as part of Accelerate Alabama, the state\u2019s long-term plan to prioritize economic development. <strong>Oladiran Fasina<\/strong> in the Department of Biosystems Engineering, and engineering faculty members <strong>Weikuan Yu<\/strong> in the Department of Computer Science and Software, <strong>Bruce Tatarchuk<\/strong> in the Department of Chemical Engineering and <strong>Marko Hakovirta<\/strong>, director of the Alabama Center for Paper and Bioresource Engineering, are among 15 first-round grant recipients chosen as part of Gov. Robert Bentley\u2019s efforts to further prioritize innovation and entrepreneurship in the Education Trust Fund budget.
