{"id":5185,"date":"2018-05-18T01:07:48","date_gmt":"2018-05-18T01:07:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/?p=5185"},"modified":"2018-05-21T20:45:31","modified_gmt":"2018-05-21T20:45:31","slug":"highest-honors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/?p=5185","title":{"rendered":"Highest honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Auburn Engineering students and alumni continue to receive some of the world\u2019s most prestigious scholarships and fellowships.<\/p>\n<p>The following students received prestigious awards, honorable mention or finalist honors this year:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/?p=5120\">Matthew Rogers, \u201918 software engineering, became Auburn Engineering\u2019s first Rhodes Scholar since 1949<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/?p=4028\">Kasey Cooper<\/a>, \u201918 mechanical engineering, was also a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>Cassie Jones, doctoral student in aerospace engineering, was awarded the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship, one of only 69 students in the nation to receive the honor.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eng.auburn.edu\/news\/2018\/04\/aerospace-nsf-fellowship.html\">Jill Joffe, \u201918 aerospace engineering, will continue her studies at Purdue University in mechanical engineering as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow<\/a>. Receiving honorable mentions in the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship competition were James Smith, graduate student in electrical and computer engineering; Brandon Morris, \u201918 software engineering; and Griffin Eagan, \u201918 aerospace engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Chemical engineering major Jihyuk Kim and software engineering major Mina Narayanan received honorable mentions in the Goldwater Scholarship competition.
