The team assisted the city of Auburn in planning for drought this summer as part of a Southeast Climate Consortium (SECC) initiative and as a result of population growth and increasing water demand in the area. The city now actively uses climate information for managing water supply and demand. SECC\u2019s collaboration with Auburn also led to a proposal to develop a municipal water deficit index for small municipalities in the Southeast that depend on surface water sources for their municipal water supply.
