Auburn University’s Samuel Ginn College of Engineering was again recognized as a national leader in higher education, ranking among the nation’s top 35 public institutions for a 15th-consecutive year when the U.S. News and World Report’s 2026 Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs were released on Tuesday.
“The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering remains dedicated to delivering the most student-focused engineering education in the country,” said Mario Eden, dean of engineering. “We’ve made substantial investments in recruiting world-class faculty, advancing impactful research, enhancing student support services, expanding hands-on learning opportunities and maintaining state-of-the-art facilities. This ranking reflects our unwavering pursuit of excellence. It’s a privilege to be consistently recognized among the top engineering programs nationwide.”
Auburn Engineering’s undergraduate programs also ranked fourth among the 15 public institutions in the Southeastern Conference and — again — No. 1 in the state. The college produces one-third of the state of Alabama’s engineering graduates annually and boasts several prominent alumni, including four astronauts and Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Also, the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering’s Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering ranked No. 47 among undergraduate computer science programs at public institutions.
Auburn’s eight engineering departments — including aerospace, biosystems, chemical, civil and environmental, computer science and software, electrical and computer, industrial and systems and mechanical — offer students 12 distinct undergraduate degree paths, along with a wide range of graduate programs.
Auburn Engineering ranks No. 33 among public institutions for graduate engineering programs and No. 20 nationwide for online graduate engineering programs across all universities, both public and private.
