Auburn Engineering has established a new minor in tribology and lubrication science \u2014 one of only a few programs in the nation focused on the contact, friction, wear and lubrication of surfaces. Tribology\u2019s applications range widely, from bearings, engines and manufacturing, to human joint replacement, to nanotechnology, oil product chemistry, power generation, hard-drive technology and electrical contacts. The 15-hour multidisciplinary minor, which includes courses from biosystems engineering, mechanical engineering, polymer and fiber engineering and chemistry, will address industry demand for graduates who have a background in tribology and lubrication science.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
