{"id":3419,"date":"2015-05-05T20:48:02","date_gmt":"2015-05-05T20:48:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/?p=3419"},"modified":"2015-05-28T19:51:54","modified_gmt":"2015-05-28T19:51:54","slug":"5-years-and-going-strong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/?p=3419","title":{"rendered":"5 years and going strong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Auburn University\u2019s Huntsville Research Center celebrated its fifth anniversary on April 8 before a large audience of scientists and engineers, as well as community and political leaders.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-3533 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/files\/2015\/05\/rodney3-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"rodney3\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/files\/2015\/05\/rodney3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/files\/2015\/05\/rodney3-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ecm.eng.auburn.edu\/wp\/emag\/files\/2015\/05\/rodney3.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The Huntsville Research Center enables Auburn faculty members to bring innovative research to Huntsville to support federal agencies in the area, as well as the large number of technology-based industries that interact with them. The center also assists in providing employers with interns, co-op students and graduate researchers, many of whom become permanent residents in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Rodney Robertson, who directs the center, notes that these activities have an important effect not only on the Huntsville area, but on the state of Alabama as a whole in terms of economic development. He adds that Redstone Arsenal and Marshall Space Flight Center oversee more than $60 billion in federal budgets, that bring with them immense research and technology needs that can be addressed by partnerships with the academic community, including the College of Engineering.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Auburn University\u2019s Huntsville Research Center celebrated its fifth anniversary on April 8 before a large audience of scientists and engineers, as well as community and political leaders.
