Much of the media coverage surrounding the controversial act speaks highly of Auburn\u2019s rich history, but <a href=\"http:\/\/espn.go.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/6862768\/cfb-latest-update-poisoned-oaks-auburn-toomer-corner-espn-magazine\" target=\"_blank\">a recent article for ESPN: The Magazine<\/a> honored Auburn\u2019s legacy on a deeper level.<\/p>\n<p>The story featured Auburn Engineering alum Maury Gaston, an \u201882 mechanical engineering graduate, and his family. Gaston is a third generation Auburn student whose grandfather sold the family farm so Gaston\u2019s father could attend Auburn. His father purchased a seedling from Toomer\u2019s Oaks before he passed away in 2005, and Gaston\u2019s grandmother still rolls the oak that grows in their backyard in his honor.
