What brought you to Auburn and to your major?
Auburn had a prestigious engineering program, a wonderful campus and it was a family tradition! Once I stepped foot on campus, I knew I was right where I needed to be.

Tell me your story about your path since graduation regarding your career?
During my senior year of my undergraduate studies, I begin looking around at career opportunities for entry level engineers and nothing sparked my interest. I decided to pursue my PhD to further hone my skills to something I really enjoyed. Throughout my graduate school years I studied ocular drug delivery systems, eventually I realized that my passion wasn’t simply pharmaceuticals but the formulation of products in general. Currently, I am a senior scientist for Dove Men + Care, where I am responsible for innovating and designing new body wash formulas.

How did your Auburn engineering education prepare you for what you are doing now?

Engineering taught me how to think outside of the box when faced with a problem. Even though my undergraduate and graduate studies were not targeted towards personal care, everything I learned at Auburn helps me every day in my career.

What advice would you give students at Auburn?
You are going to get bad grades, don’t let that define you or lead you to think you can’t achieve greatness. You have already been accepted at Auburn, so you know you are great! When you receive a bad grade, learn from it and study/prepare four times as hard next time.

What is your favorite Auburn memory or War Eagle moment?
My favorite Auburn memory is when I got locked out of the engineering computer lab and a classmate let me in, unbeknownst to me that I would one day marry that fellow Auburn engineer.
