The program will include:
-
- an overview of the state of transportation engineering education
- presentations from several transportation engineering faculty colleagues on innovative and productive techniques used in their teaching
- workshop to develop course activities based on best practices in active learning, facilitated by Karl Smith, Morse-Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota
- time for discussion of issues and solutions
The workshop will begin at 8:30 am on Tuesday, May 22 and will finish at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 23. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on both days. For dinner on the first day, there are many restaurants available within a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
It is recommended for attendees who plan to fly, flying into ATL on May 21 and then renting a vehicle and driving about 90 minutes south on Interstate 85 to Auburn. With the conference concluding at 2:00 pm, allowing for the time zone change and travel time to ATL, 6:00 pm would be the earliest departure flight from ATL to consider on May 23.
