The objectives of the workshop are:
- To share and develop tools to improve the quality of our teaching by providing opportunities for faculty to learn from each other through presentations on classroom experiences of transportation engineering faculty.
- To establish new and strengthen existing connections and collaborations among transportation engineering educators by expanding and strengthening the community of practice. Several participants in prior workshops and other transportation engineering educators who employ active learning techniques will present experiences and lessons learned after implementing ideas developed during or related to principles from prior workshops. To further immerse participants in the principles of engineering education, one or two leaders in the field of engineering education research will be invited to speak.
- To develop and incorporate new classroom techniques, such as active learning and concept testing, to their transportation engineering courses to improve learning and retention.
