Alice E. Smith, the Joe W. Forehand/Accenture Distinguished Professor with a joint appointment in industrial and systems engineering and computer science and software engineering, was chosen as an IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Distinguished Lecturer for a three-year term beginning in 2018.
Smith is one of only 15 current IEEE Distinguished Lecturers from around the world. She presented her first two lectures this May in Bogota and Medellin, Colombia.
Smith has been a member of the Auburn faculty since 1999. Her field is modeling and optimization of complex systems using computational intelligence.
